The new TOGO Pagne Tissé Cushions (40cm x 40cm) are hand-woven with TOGO artisanal fabric, using ancient African weaving techniques. Available from likeUafrica, they are a handmade product from the MIADJOE - Italia West Africa brand, which presents itself as follows:
Miadjoe is a micro-textile brand born from the encounter between Italy and West Africa, with the aim of promoting awareness of traditional handwoven fabrics from West African countries, such as Ghanaian kente and Togolese lokpo. The fabrics are handmade by weavers at the Esso Wassam center in Kara, Togo, and sewn by Henry Tronou, a passionate tailor based in Lomé, Togo. The linings are leftover pieces from other tailoring activities. Behind every Miadjoe accessory lies a deep love for weaving and craftsmanship, the traceability and sustainability of the supply chain, and respect for people and their work. Every imperfection is to be understood in this light.
Miadjoe in the Ewe language means "let's go": for us it is an invitation to be open to the world and to the possibility of questioning one's point of view.
The cushion covers are very elegant and durable, removable, washable (preferably by hand), and sold without filling. They are made of 100% loom-woven cotton thread.
