Earrings made in Lomé by Togolese artisans in plexiglass with patterns inspired by African Wax fabrics. The earring hooks are in silver.
Valérie and I met in 2017 in Cotonou, during one of her exhibitions/markets in a well-known space in the Beninese city. I had just arrived and all the artisanal products I saw, the fabrics and the colors were literally capturing me day after day. The plexiglass jewelry proposed was very original, modern, elegant and proposed the motifs of African prints: a perfect mix.
The project of Valérie and her husband represents in fact the philosophy that moves likeUafrica: investing in the creativity and beauty of made in Africa. Because 'l'Afrique c'est chic' and it is important to spread this side, promote it, support it.
Valerie and her husband were born in Togo. They then grew up in France, where they studied and became artists. The desire to return to their roots and work in Togo creating value came in 2014: Plexiglas jewelry with modern materials and local designs are among the first products of their company, which now employs several craftsmen on a stable basis.
